Description

Mad As Hell documents the tumultuous, at times hilarious and altogether astonishing trajectory of Cenk Uygur, The Young Turks' main host and founder as he traverses from unknown Public Access TV host to internet sensation. When he ventures into television and lands on MSNBC, Cenk's uncensored brand of journalism is compromised as he becomes a thorn in the side of traditional news media; his unwavering dedication to speaking the truth puts him at the very nexus of the battle between new and old media, and makes MAD AS HELL not only entertaining but incredibly timely as well.

This is a fantastic documentary. I've watched Cenk Uygur off and on for a few years, but I only recently started watching The Young Turks on a regular basis, especially during/after the 2016 election, because I don't think you can trust corporate media anymore, whether it's Fox, MSNBC, CNN, ABC, CBS, or NBC. They're profit-driven models, all with a propagandist agenda, and that agenda is to make money, not bring actual facts or useful information to the people. Cenk can be a loud-mouthed jerk sometimes, and sometimes you just wanna tell him to STFU, but he gets in your face for a reason, and that reason is to educate you, to make you see the reality of the reality that surrounds you, and makes choices on your behalf as a voter, as a tax-payer, as a citizen. He never pulls a punch, and he just gives it to you, straight up. Sometimes it's painful and uncomfortable, but most times it's what you already knew, but were afraid to face, or talk about, or stand behind. In watching him, he's not about right or left, he's about right and wrong, and there's a big difference in those two dynamics. Whether you love him or hate him, he's a principled individual, and I admire and respect that about him. He could have had a cushy job at MSNBC, he would have been set for life, with a big, fat pay check, but he didn't, because that's not what he's about, and it's not what The Young Turks are about. Truth in media is a big deal now, but you have to go outside the box to find it, and you need to find the outlets that aren't just going to blow smoke up your behind.
